Hi! My name is Sommer Shelfer Blackburn, or as my parent’s like to call me…”Beanie”! I am a mother of two beautiful children, a wife to the most amazing man and love of my life, a daughter, a sister, a best friend, a struggling child of God and now an owner of a children’s clothing line!!!! WOW, how I am blessed!!
Beanies is a wild hair idea that came to light because of my love for cute children’s clothing. It’s great fun for me to dress my two babies….better than playing dress up with dolls as a child. A few years ago I found a wonderful seamstress to make some dresses for my daughter and then it became an addiction. Soon I was having her make spring and fall wardrobes for my daughter and my son. I once was approached by friends at church who asked me if I would be a “personal shopper” for their little girl. I was honored because it not only complemented me and my children but gave my husband and I a great idea to pray about. So, with God’s blessing to place amazingly wonderful and talented women in my path……I am proud to introduce to you:

Last October I had a crazy dream to start a children’s clothing company and within 5 very short months Beanies first line was launched Spring 2011. In August 2011 Beanies introduced it’s first traveling trunk for the Fall 2011 and what a great season it has been as we are approaching a close now.
I want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart to all Beanie customers! This has been a unbelievable year for us a company and me personally as a new business owner. I am so honored by your trust in allowing me to dress your precious ones and humbled by allowing me the growing pains it has taken us to get to this point. God is so good that He never gives more than He knows one can handle. He is our potter and we are His clay. I trust that He has an awesome plan for all of us and that includes Beanies.
So I am proud to announce that we have some really exciting news to share. Beginning in Spring 2012 Beanies garments will all be made in a factory setting here in Houston, Texas USA. Although I have always valued the fact that all Beanies clothes are made with loving hands, meaning we hire a team of seamstresses that actually hand make all the garments. One big “growing pain” that comes from that is human error and inconsistent garments. This big change will insure consistency across the board with sizing and patterns. This opportunity will also allow Beanies to build upfront inventory for faster turn around time to our customers and hopefully open other doors for growth in the future. As Beanies continues to grow we value hearing constructive feedback from our loving customers. We honestly believe that we can only become better by learning from our “booboo’s” and when we fall down and hurt ourselves we get back up with grace and try again.
Beanies vision has always been just to offer quality custom children clothing and I promise never to stop striving to perfect that. We are so excited about this new opportunity in our business and we hope that you will share with us as we celebrate into the new seasons.
